What is a Composite Resin?
Tooth-colored fillings are made with composite resin that is a combination of plastic and glass materials. When mixed together in the right formula, this soft material can be applied in layers to a tooth and hardened. A special light is used to quickly harden each layer of composite resin, filling the area missing in the tooth. As each layer is added, the filling becomes stronger, while still remaining slightly flexible when pressure is applied.
